Nakatakas kaninang madaling araw mula sa kanyang kulungan sa Camp Crame, punong himpilan ng Philippine National Police, si Fathur Roman Al-Ghozi na pangunahing suspek sa pambobomba sa LRT noong Disyembre 30, 2000.

Ayon kay PNP Director General Hermogenes Ebdane, Jr., nakatakas si Al-Ghozi, kasama sina Abdulmukim Edris, hinihinala ring terorista, at Mehran Abante, umano’y kasapi ng Abu Sayyaf, sa pagitan ng 3:30 at ika-5:00 kaninang umaga.

Umabot sa 22 katao ang namatay sa pambombomba sa LRT. Si Al-Ghozi ay nahatulan na ng 10 hanggang 12 taong pagkakakulong kaugnay sa kasong ito.

Nang mabalitaan ang pangyayari, galit na galit naman umano si Pangulong Gloria Arroyo, na binisita ngayong araw ni Australian Prime Minister John Howard. Tulad niya, si Howard ay masugid ding tagasuporta ni US President Bush sa giyera nito laban sa terorismo.

Hinahanting na ng mga pulis ang mga pugante.
