Inaasahang ilulunsad bukas ng Google ang OpenSocial (abangan ang pagla-live). Ayon sa website na TechCruch, ito’y isang set ng application programming interface (API) na magagamit ng mga developer para lumikha ng mga application na gagana sa alinmang social network na tatanggap sa OpenSocial.

Narito ako ngayon sa aming barangay–nagmamasid sa eleksyon sa barangay at sangguniang kabataan. Iba’t ibang eksena ang makikita: mga nawawalang botante sa listahan, mga kabataang nakikiisa sa eleksyon, mga may kapansanang inaaalalayan.

Siyempre kumustahan kami ng mga dati kong guro at mga kabaranggay at kamag-anak.

Kandidato ang tiyo ko at isang pinsan niya. Samantala, tambay muna kami ng mga pinsan ko sa ilalim ng punong mangga habang tuloy ang kuwentuhang pulitika.

Kayo, nakaboto na ba kayo?

Nag-comment kamakailan sa Erap pardon article ko sa Titik ni Ederic si cyberfriend Chuckie Dreyfus, founder ng WordPress Pinoys. Napansin ko ang sinabi niyang “If this is how we run our own democratic independence, I’d rather wish for colonialism!” Pagdaan ko sa blog niya, may tanong siya sa mga bisita: “Colonialism is really starting to sound good right about now. What say you?”

Napahaba ang sagot ko, kaya’t ipinost ko na rin dito. Ganito ang sinabi ko:

I agree with you when you wrote “Gloria is doing this because she needs ALL the support she can get from BOTH fences.” Given the series of scandals in her administration, Mrs. Arroyo must really be worried that she could be forced out of the Palace before 2010. Thus, she needs the support of Erap and FPJ loyalists.

But despite all these, I still believe we shouldn’t give up and wish that we belonged na lang to another nation. Narito na tayo, eh. Pangatawanan na natin. Besides, our government’s policies since we earned “independence” in the 1940s have been heavily influenced by the United States. Pero look at where we are now. Pati nga scandals nila, ginagaya natin. They had Watergate, we had Juetenggate–and now Hello Garci, Jocjoc, ZTE, bribery, and others. At sigurado ako, maging Americans man tayo legally through Statehood, we’ll always be treated as second-class citizens dahil kayumanggi tayo.

GMA’s pardon of Erap is part of a cover-up most foul. In the immediate, Malacanang hopes to divert the public’s attention from the latest corruption and bribery scandals using this hasty and unjust pardon. The more sinister objective is to draw Estrada and his followers away from the Oust GMA Movement, entice Estrada to instead utilize the electoral arena to rebuild his political and economic clout and meanwhile allow the Arroyo regime to weather its latest crisis.

Akbayan:

She treats justice like a mere transaction among thieves. Who else but the most incorrigible of thieves who would not hesitate to do a shameless act like this? This mockery of justice is unpardonable… This act normalizes corruption, sending a wrong message to the youth and other public officials… Who else is she willing to forgive? The Marcoses?”
